Rich was born in Berkeley, California and currently lives in Alamo. He was a shareholder/partner at Craddick, Candland & Conti until December, 2015 after which he served as “Of Counsel” with the firm until his retirement in December, 2024. Rich concentrated his practice in the defense of professional liability claims on behalf of physicians, hospitals, physician practice groups and other healthcare providers. He successfully tried numerous cases, both in court and at arbitration, to defense verdict and had extensive experience in litigating cases involving complex medical malpractice issues and catastrophic injuries.

Rich received his B.S. degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1967. He then attended Hastings College of the Law, where he received his J.D. degree in 1970. He was a Deputy District Attorney with the Alameda County District Attorneys’ office from 1971 until 1977, when he joined Craddick, Candland & Conti.
